NESS SAFETY REGULATIONS 2007
- ISAF category 4 with the NESS prescription shall be used for inshore & short coastal races held in daylight.
- ISAF category 3 without liferaft with the NESS prescription shall be used for overnight racing predominantly close to shore, for races held during summer months with only one night at sea. Note that the use of liferafts is strongly recommended.
- Requirements for any other longer races shall be as described by the organising club.
- Clubs may decide to use the ISAF Regulations as they are written for their own racing.
- In addition, the wearing of lifejackets will be mandatory under the following conditions - Fog, hours of darkness, short handed racing (two crew or less), wind strength Force 5 and above, or when instructed by the Race Officer.
- Club Safety officers will commence a programme of inspection of boats. Yachts that meet above category 3 or 4 requirements will be issued with a valid Safety Certificate. The certificate will be valid for the current season and accepted by all member clubs.
- In the event that a boat does not meet the required standard, a ree-inspection will be convened at a mutually agreed time, (no later than two weeks). In the event that a boat does not meet the required standard at this time, the boat may forfeit the points achieved from the date of the first inspection and thereafter until complience with the relevant category.
