Provisional Sailing Instructions
1. Rules
The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the RRS 2005-2008, the prescriptions of the RYA, The International Rules for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea, NECRA 2008 rules and the following SI's.2. Conditions of Entry
All boats must be registered with NECRA prior to the start of this event.In addition, boats must also meet the safety requirments below. Please note - boats may be inspected before or after races at the discretion of the committee - failure to meet the requirements may result in disqualification.
The safety of a boat and her entire management, including insurance, shall be the sole responsibility of the owner/person in charge, who must ensure that the boat and crew are adequate to face the conditions that may arise in the course of the race.
Moreover, every owner/person in charge warrants the suitability of the boat for the race or races and that the boat contains at least the minimum safety equipment specified by NERR/NECRA.
3. Notices to Competitors
Notices will be posted in the foyer of Tees & Hartlepool Yacht Club. Any changes to the sailing instructions will be posted not later than 90 minutes before the start.4. Signals made Ashore
Any signals made ashore will be displayed at the T&HYC tower on their lighting system or over VHF radio (Chanel M2).5. Protests
Protests, accompanied with a fee of 5, must be submitted by 18.00 Saturday to Sunderland Yacht Club.6. Radio Communication
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile phones.All yachts should radio "Tees Tower" on Chanel M2 15 minutes before the start, declaring their intention to race.
7. Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the races at their own risk. See RRS rule 4 Decision to Race. Neither these Sailing Instructions nor any inspection of the boat limits or reduces the absolute responsibility of the owner/person in charge for the crew, the boat and her management. The race organisers shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner/person in charge or crew as a result of their taking part in a race or races.8. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party insurance with a minimum cover of 2,000,000.9. Safety

THYC Race Committee will operate on VHF Ch M2 and SYC will operate on Ch M1/37.11. Retirements
Any boat retiring from the race must inform the Race Committee at the destination Club, preferably by VHF.12. Schedule of Race

13. Course

14. THYC Start Line
The standard THYC start line will be used. The start line is a transit between the fixed white light below the race station and a post on the end of south outer pier of the entrance to Hartlepool Marina. The start line is also designated by inner & outer distance buoys which may be tide bourne and not on the transit.Please note that yachts must not enter the Hartlepool channel at any time after the 5 minutes signal.
15. Starting Procedure
Lights will be shown from THYC tower in accordance with T&HYC standard starting procedures:-5 min - 1 white light
4 min - 2 white lights
1 min - 3 white lights
Start - all lights out
16. SYC Finishing Line
A line between the SYC race office and the northern most point of the masonry on the South pier of the entrance to Sunderland harbour
Please note that the red can channel nautical buoy (if in position) off the South pier of Sunderland harbour is a mark of the course and must be left to port.
Leading boat entering Sunderland harbour is requested to call the Racing Station.
Yachts finishing may be given lights. All boats are advised to take their own finishing times (GPS) in the event that the finish line is not manned.

18.Time Limit
Any boat not finishing before 14:30 Saturday 23 August will be recorded as DNF.PLEASE NOTE THE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF NAVIGATION AND RACE MARKS ARE FOR GUIDANCE ONLY.
COMPETITORS SHOULD RELY ON THEIR OWN NAVIGATION AND CHART DATUM.
